This watch has a very rich, and somewhat mysterious history leading back to what is believed to be one of the oldest jewelry stores in Wisconsin, Salick’s Jewelry Store. Salick’s Jewelry Store was founded in 1853 by Joseph Salick who immigrated from Westphalia, Germany where he had been a clock maker to Cincinnati and eventually to Watertown, Wisconsin.  His store in Watertown operated for over 140 years until 1995.

This historic watch was manufactured by Joseph’s son, Charles “Chas” Salick, who worked under his father but eventually took over the business in 1894 when Joseph retired. Chas Salick then formed a partnership with his son, John E. Salick, and the firm was then known as Salick Jewelry Co.

This beautiful piece is working and ready to be enjoyed. This watch is a very rare find with a rich Wisconsin history.
